Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains what you may and may not do with ABC Teck Hosting services. It is part of our Terms of Service, and by using our services you agree to it.

1. Why this policy exists

Our servers are shared. One customer's misuse, such as spam, malware or overloading a server, can hurt every other customer on it, including getting our email blocklisted for everyone. This policy protects everyone's sites and email.

2. What our hosting is for

  • Legitimate websites, web applications and online stores
  • WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and other standard CMS platforms
  • Transactional email from your applications, such as receipts, password resets and notifications
  • Files, databases and email for your domains
  • Personal, business and non-profit sites

3. What is not allowed

How we respond depends on the violation, as described in Section 8.

Serious violations: immediate suspension or termination, without warning

  • Illegal content, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Zero tolerance. CSAM is reported immediately to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as federal law requires.
  • Phishing and fraud: fake login pages, identity theft, financial scams or any other deceptive scheme.
  • Malware and hacking: distributing malware, viruses, ransomware or spyware, or attempting to gain unauthorized access to any system.
  • Network attacks: DDoS attacks, port scanning, flooding or anything else that disrupts networks.
  • Threats of violence or incitement to violence against anyone.

Other violations: restrictions and strikes

  • Spam and bulk email: unsolicited bulk email, mailing lists without confirmed opt-in, or anything that gets our IP addresses blocklisted.
  • Copyright infringement: pirated software, movies, music or other material you do not have the rights to. Copyright complaints are handled under Section 12 of our Terms.
  • Cryptocurrency mining, or similar heavy processing unrelated to web hosting.
  • Proxy and VPN services: open proxies, VPN endpoints or anonymizing services for other people.
  • Resource abuse: sustained CPU, memory or bandwidth use that slows service for other customers.
  • Hateful content that promotes hatred of or discrimination against individuals or groups.

If an "other" violation is also illegal or causes serious harm, for example spam at a scale that blocklists our servers, we may treat it as a serious violation.

4. Email sending rules

If your site or application sends email, you must:

  • Send only to people who have explicitly opted in.
  • Include a working unsubscribe link in every marketing email.
  • Honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.
  • Follow CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL and any other laws that apply to your mail.
  • Stay under 500 outbound emails per hour on shared plans.

Mail must be sent through our mail servers. Direct connections from your scripts to outside mail servers are blocked.

5. Resource usage

Shared plans include fair-use limits. Sustained use above them may lead to throttling or a request to upgrade:

  • CPU: sustained use above 10% of a single core for extended periods.
  • Memory: applications should stay within your plan's allocation.
  • Bandwidth: a fair-use threshold per plan. Short bursts are fine; sustained abuse is not.
  • Files (inodes): a maximum of 250,000 files per account.

Repeated or severe resource abuse is handled under Section 8.

6. Keeping your account secure

You are responsible for securing your sites and files:

  • Keep WordPress and other software, plugins and themes up to date.
  • Use strong, unique passwords for admin accounts and databases, and turn on two-step sign-in.
  • Remove unused plugins, themes and old installations.

If your account is compromised and sends spam, outbound email is disabled as described in Section 8. If it distributes malware or hosts phishing, we suspend it until it is cleaned and secured. We will tell you what we found to help you clean up.

7. Automated security monitoring

To protect all customers, we run automated security checks on our servers, including:

  • scanning hosted files, images and databases for malware, web shells and injected code;
  • monitoring outgoing email volume and which scripts send it;
  • watching for unusual server activity, such as cryptocurrency mining or attack traffic;
  • checking customer domains against public phishing and malware blocklists.

These checks are automated and look only for security threats and policy violations. No one reads your email or browses your files as part of them, and a person looks at flagged items only as needed to confirm a problem.

Some steps happen automatically so damage cannot spread, such as disabling outbound email during a spam burst or moving a malicious file into quarantine. Quarantined files are moved, not deleted. Anything more serious is reviewed by a person first.

8. How we enforce this policy

  • Serious violations: immediate suspension or termination, with no warning and no refund. We report them to law enforcement where the law requires.
  • Other violations: we restrict the feature involved and record a strike on your account. Each strike lasts longer than the one before:
    • First strike: the feature is disabled for 10 days.
    • Second strike: the feature is disabled for 20 days.
    • Third strike: the feature is disabled permanently.
For email abuse, the feature is outbound email (SMTP). For resource abuse, your account may be throttled or we will ask you to upgrade. For content violations, the content is removed or disabled.
  • Strikes expire 12 months after they are recorded.

Any restriction, strike or suspension can be reviewed case by case (Section 10).

9. Reporting violations

If you believe someone is using our servers to violate this policy, email abuse@abcteck.com with the IP address, URL and a description. We review every report and handle urgent ones, such as phishing, malware and CSAM, first. If you find child sexual abuse material, please also report it to NCMEC's CyberTipline.

For copyright complaints, use the process in Section 12 of our Terms.

10. Reviews and appeals

If you think we got it wrong, open a support ticket or email appeals@abcteck.com within 14 days. Tell us what happened and what you have fixed. We review every case individually and reply with a decision, usually within 3 business days. We may lift a restriction early, remove a strike or reverse a suspension.

11. Changes to this policy

We will email you at least 14 days before significant changes take effect, except changes needed immediately to stop abuse or comply with the law. If you keep using our services after the effective date, the updated policy applies.
